Hydroelectric power plants on the middle course of the River Sava (SRESA project)

The SRESA project envisages the construction of a chain of 10 hydroelectric power plants along the middle course of the River Sava (Suhadol, Trbovlje, Renke, Ponoviče, Kresnice, Jevnica, Zalog, Šentjakob, Gameljne, and Tacen). GEN energija holds a direct 10% stake in the SRESA project, and an indirect 30% stake through the company SEL.

The hydroelectric power plants on the middle course of the River Sava will increase the production of base load, and partly peak load, power from renewable energy sources by 1,029 GWh, providing a safe and reliable supply of electricity over the long term. Once the planned HPPs on the middle course of the River Sava are built, and the chain of HPPs on the River Sava completed, the hydro potential of the river will be tapped optimally, which will result in increased reliability, stability and competitiveness of the national electric power grid.
